Job summary

Providence Hobbs Hospital in New Mexico invites an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II to support the dispensing of unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments, triaging orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, NM Pharmacy Technician license or TX trainee/license, and either 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience with PTCB certification or 2 years without PTCB.

Certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required.
  • Upon hire: New Mexico Pharmacy Technician - New Mexico Board of Pharmacy or upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Minimum of one year (> 2080 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and current PTCB certification - OR - 2 years (>4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.

Responsibilities

  • Fill/dispense unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments, ensuring prompt and accurate delivery while maintaining ADS integrity.
  • Triaging patient orders and ensuring accuracy in dispensing, including IV medications.

Description

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).

Required Qualifications:
  • H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • Upon hire: New Mexico Pharmacy Technician - New Mexico Board of Pharmacy or
  • Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
  • Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Minimum of one year (> 2080 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and current PTCB certification - OR - 2 years (>4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
  • Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).
