Job summary

Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, MT is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III to support the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and ancillary departments with accuracy and speed.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, Montana Pharmacy Technician License or equivalent, PTCB certification, and hospital pharmacy experience; ADMs and EHR experience are preferred to ensure safe medication handling and ADS integrity.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Must hold Montana Pharmacy Technician License or Montana Pharmacist License or Pharmacist Intern License.
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system with PTCB certification, or 3 years hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification.
• Experience with Automated Dispensing Machines and EHR.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense oral and IV medications.
• Dispense unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments.
• Triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the ADS.

Job description

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Has advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy.

Required Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Upon hire: Montana Pharmacy Technician License or
  • Upon hire: Montana Pharmacist License or
  • Upon hire: Montana Pharmacist Intern License.
• Minimum of 2 years (> 4160 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB certification - OR - 3 years (> 6240 hours) hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification.
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training:Pharmacy technician program.
• Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances).
