Job summary

Walgreens Co. in Texas is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, entering patient information, and maintaining workflow within the store pharmacy.

The role supports the pharmacist in daily operations, including inventory management, handling calls, and assisting customers at the OTC area. Opportunities to coordinate clinical services and strengthen relationships with local healthcare providers are available.

Qualifications

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or in locations where this role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement)

Responsibilities

• Under supervision by the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct; fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs; verify medicine; check for interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow; report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty; adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policy.
• Registers related sales on assigned cash register; assist customers to OTC aisle; handle non- pharmacist calls.
• Leads Pharmacy Department inventory management activities: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments; manage warehouse overages/shortages/errors.
• Supports development of relationships with local medical community and coordination of clinical services and external providers.
