Job summary

Providence Covenant Children's Hospital in Texas is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III responsible for filling and dispensing unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments, including IV and oral meds, while ensuring ADS integrity.

The role requires strong knowledge of two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy, plus required Texas pharmacy technician credentials and experience with ADMs and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
• Minimum 2 years in an integrated health system with PTCB certification OR 3 years hospital pharmacy if no PTCB.
• Experience with ADMs and EHRs.

Responsibilities

• Fill/dispense unit dose and stock meds to nursing units and departments.
• Fill/dispense oral and IV medications; triage patient orders.
• Maintain integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).

Job description

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Has advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy.

Required Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma or GED
• Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
  • Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
• Minimum of 2 years (> 4160 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB certification - OR - 3 years (> 6240 hours) hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification.
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
• Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances).
• Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
