Job summary

Providence Health & Services is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III in Texas to fill and dispense unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments. You will handle oral and IV meds, triage orders, and maintain the automated dispensing system with advanced knowledge in multiple specialty areas.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED and must obtain or hold Texas Pharmacy Technician licensure; PTCB certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Texas Licensed Technician on hire.
• 2 years pharmacy practice in an integrated health system with PTCB OR 3 years hospital pharmacy without PTCB.
• Experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Triaging patient orders and maintaining ADS integrity.

Description

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Has advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy.

Required Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED
• Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
• Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
• Minimum of 2 years (> 4160 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB certification - OR - 3 years (> 6240 hours) hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification.
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR)

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
• Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances).
• Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
