Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a Pharmacist, Principal to oversee specialty drug program strategy across the pharmacy and medical benefit. You'll lead end-to-end program design, manage specialty networks and distribution partnerships, and drive affordability initiatives to improve access and member experience.

The role requires a PharmD, California RPh license, 4+ years in clinical pharmacy, and strong leadership with analytics and vendor management.

Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from a U.S. accredited school.
Current, active, and unrestricted California Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license.
At least 4 years of experience in clinical pharmacy.
Experience in specialty pharmacy, managed care, PBM concepts, and biosimilar strategies.
Experience evaluating pharmacy program value and performance drivers.
Prior management experience in health plans or PBMs; knowledge of PBM products, networks, and contracts.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end strategy for specialty drug programs across pharmacy and medical benefit.
Oversee specialty networks: LDD, specialty-at-retail, and direct distribution partners.
Monitor network performance, utilization, reimbursement, access, service levels, and financial outcomes.
Develop programs like short fill, biosimilars, site-of-care and affordability initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, manufacturers, and networks; drive strategic initiatives.
