Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Petroleum Engineer to optimize production from existing fields and evaluate new developments near East London in the Eastern Cape. The role focuses on reservoir analysis, well performance, and production enhancement to maximize asset value.

You will collaborate across disciplines, perform economic evaluations, and mentor junior engineers to strengthen the team’s capabilities in a challenging oil & gas environment.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Minimum 8 years of upstream Petroleum Engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of reservoir characterization and production operations.
• Experience with offshore or onshore oil & gas activities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Analyze well performance data to identify production issues and optimization opportunities.
• Develop strategies for artificial lift, water management, and EOR techniques.
• Perform reservoir simulations and economic evaluations to support field development decisions.
• Collaborate with geologists, drilling and facility engineers to drive joint execution.
• Prepare technical reports and forecasts for management and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.
