Job summary

Nutrafol seeks an experienced personal care formulation leader to own technical strategy for its topical portfolio. This role blends hands-on bench work with high-level direction for in-house and external labs, with a focus on scalp and strand regimens.

You will oversee end-to-end formulation processes, partner with Unilever Science & Technology, and guide new product development from concept to scale-up with external CMOs. Hybrid work in CT is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in cosmetic science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• 5–10+ years of experience in cosmetic or personal care formulation with progression into technical leadership.
• Hands-on formulation laboratory experience is highly desirable, including pilot-scale formulation work.
• Experience leading or mentoring formulation scientists; direct people management experience preferred.
• Experience formulating prestige or premium personal care products across multiple formats with clean beauty standards.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the topical/personal care formulation strategy and roadmap across leave-on and rinse-off products.
• Lead in-house and external formulation partners, selecting build vs. partner paths for new products.
• Own regulatory coordination with QA/RA to meet MoCRA and safety requirements.
• Manage external labs and CMOs; ensure timelines, quality, and cost targets.
• Develop and maintain formulation standards, databases, and documentation practices.
