The Senior Permitting Specialist will lead and manage permitting activities for private and city-sponsored projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, with particular depth in the City of Austin's Development Services Department (DSD) processes. This is a hybrid role based in Austin, TX, combining on‑site collaboration with flexible work‑from‑home days, reporting to the Managing Principal within an embedded, multidisciplinary program support team.
Daily responsibilities include preparing and reviewing permit applications across site plan, grading, water quality, heritage tree, and utility right‑of‑way permits; coordinating directly with municipal permitting authorities, including attending pre‑submittal conferences and comment‑response meetings; tracking approvals and resolving permitting issues that may impact schedules or budgets; and interpreting zoning and land‑use ordinances to advise clients on permitting strategy. The Specialist will also build standardized templates, submittal formats, and institutional documentation that turn ad hoc permitting activity into a repeatable, defensible system, while maintaining organized documentation and reporting across multiple concurrent projects and contributing to process improvements that support faster, more predictable permitting outcomes.
-Salary Range: $110,000 to $145,000/year, commensurate with experience.
