Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking an experienced Operating Room Senior Nurse to provide advanced perioperative patient care in a fast-paced pediatric surgical environment. The role includes mentoring new graduates, coordinating intraoperative care, and ensuring thorough documentation in the EMR.

Responsibilities encompass resource allocation, acting as charge nurse when needed, and leading quality improvement and educational activities to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required and RN licensure.
• Four years perioperative nursing experience.
• BLS/CPR, PALS, and ACLS from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. CNOR within 6 months of hire. Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities

• Consults with health care team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate intraoperative patient care plans.
• Documents in the EMR and audits unit documentation to improve accuracy and minimize errors.
• Leads orientation and mentoring of new graduates and orientees; ensures orientation goals are met and competency demonstrated.
• Manages resource allocation and staffing to meet patient needs and safety.
• Acts as charge nurse when needed and mediates problems involving providers, patients/families, and staff.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives and participates in educational activities to maintain clinical excellence.
