Fivetran, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Performance Engineering Team in the Oakland office. You’ll ensure product performance meets standards and design performance-enhancing features.

You will analyze workloads, run tests, review code with peers, and collaborate across Dev, Product, and SRE to deliver scalable backend services. This hybrid role requires a hands-on leader with 10+ years of experience, strong Java and data systems skills, and a practical, results-driven

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience in architecting reliable distributed systems with high-volume data.
• Backend services and data systems expertise.
• Strong knowledge of Java and databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop and Debug code to identify and fix performance issues (≤140 chars).
• Analyze production workloads and system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks.
• Build proof-of-concepts and translate successful ones into scalable solutions.
• Maintain a platform focusing on improving performance, resilience and quality.
• Engage with engineers across teams to refine designs and code.
