Job summary

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack. We’re looking for a talented Software Engineer with a passion for enterprise-grade software to join the team in Oakland.

You will focus on developing world-class capabilities for our largest customers and impact the full product. This role is based in Oakland, CA with a hybrid work model (two days in the office per week) and opportunities to shape architecture, improve performance, and advance data governance and solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
• 3+ years of software industry experience with solving complex software engineering problems.
• Experience designing reusable libraries and backend/frontend platforms from scratch.
• Proven ability to write well-structured, performant code.
• Ability to lead software and infrastructure design to satisfy project requirements.
• Experience in code reviews, design, troubleshooting and testing.
• Experience programming in an object oriented language such as Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with CI tools like Buildkite.
• Knowledge of observability tools like New Relic or Grafana a plus.
• Familiar with Data Engineering concepts and AI-assisted coding.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and performance improvements for scalable data pipelines.
• Develop, maintain, and test code.
• Conduct design and code reviews.
• Collaborate with product managers, support, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality product.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
• Improve reliability and security of customers’ data infrastructure.
