Job summary

SalesforceDB powers the Salesforce Platform with a fast, scalable transactional database. We seek a Senior/Lead Performance Engineer to drive performance across the distributed database stack, collaborating with database, storage, infrastructure, and analytics teams to ship improvements to the production fleet.

You will profile engines, lead benchmarks, and own performance qualifications for releases, contributing to high-scale operations and continued innovation at Salesforce.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of performance engineering on systems software, ideally databases, storage, or distributed systems.
• Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, concurrency and memory management.
• Proficient coding in Java or C/C++.
• Experience with load, benchmark and regression testing for multi-tenant workloads.

Responsibilities

• Drive design and scalability of the database stack across development teams.
• Profile the database engine and storage service to find optimization opportunities.
• Identify root causes of performance issues and coordinate fixes with owning teams.
• Lead benchmarking and modeling for hardware selection and capacity planning.
• Build telemetry, dashboards, and analysis showing fleet performance against targets.
• Own performance qualification of SalesforceDB releases with workloads and benchmarks.
