Qualifications

• Experience defining SLOs, performance budgets, and latency/throughput targets.
• Architecting and championing distributed tracing strategies (Dynatrace, AWS X-Ray, etc.).
• Ability to analyse heap dumps, thread dumps, flame graphs, GC logs, network traces, and storage I/O profiling.
• Reviewing architectures for performance risks such as excessive dependencies or poor caching.
• Leading root-cause analyses for production and pre-production performance incidents.

Responsibilities

• Define service-level objectives (SLOs), performance budgets, and latency/throughput targets across services.
• Architect and champion comprehensive distributed tracing strategies (Dynatrace, AWS X-Ray, etc.).
• Analyse application, platform, and cloud behaviour using deep-dive techniques (heap dumps, thread dumps, flame graphs, GC logs, network traces, storage I/O).
• Review service architectures for performance risks (synchronous hops, too many dependencies, poor cache placement).
• Conduct and lead root-cause analysis for performance incidents in production and pre-production environments.
• Develop capacity models and performance baselines for services across cloud environments.
