Job summary

Alo is seeking a Software Engineer focused on Performance Engineering to help improve speed, scalability, and reliability of our web and mobile platforms. This hands-on role collaborates with data, platform, and application teams to identify bottlenecks and embed performance best practices into development workflows.

The candidate will design and execute performance tests across frontend and backend systems, develop profiling and telemetry capabilities, and guide teams on performance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on performance.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems (caching, concurrency, queuing).
• 4+ years hands-on experience with performance tooling.
• Experience working with metrics, logging, and tracing systems.
• Strong debugging, profiling, and systems-level problem-solving skills.
• Experience collaborating with frontend and backend engineering teams and supporting high-scale or consumer-facing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and execute performance testing strategies (load, stress, spike, endurance, benchmarking) for web, mobile, and backend systems.
• Use and maintain performance testing tools like k6, Gatling, JMeter, Locust to build scalable test suites.
• Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks across stack: frontend, APIs, services, databases, caching, networking.
• Drive backend and infrastructure performance improvements focusing on latency, throughput, resource usage.
• Integrate performance testing and regression detection into CI/CD pipelines for continuous measurement.
• Design profiling, tracing, and telemetry solutions using observability tools.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify and solve performance challenges with hands-on guidance.
• Develop and lead adoption of performance engineering best practices across multiple teams.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and provide actionable, measurable recommendations.
