Alo is seeking an Engineering Manager, Performance Engineering in San Ramon, California to lead teams focused on speed, scalability and reliability of our web and mobile platforms. You will set performance strategy, guide stack-wide execution, and translate insights into measurable improvements.

This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and cross-team collaboration. You will partner with application, platform and data teams to ensure performance considerations are embedded

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with emphasis on performance engineering or reliability.
• 3+ years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and performance characteristics.
• Experience with performance testing, benchmarking, and monitoring tools.
• Experience operating large-scale consumer-facing or eCommerce systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the performance engineering strategy with multi-quarter roadmaps aligned to business goals.
• Lead end-to-end performance architecture across applications, services, infrastructure and cloud platforms.
• Establish performance standards and KPIs, including Core Web Vitals.
• Guide performance testing practices for web and mobile (load, stress, endurance, RUR).
• Drive frontend and backend performance improvements across APIs, databases, caching, networking and code.
• Design and evolve perf tooling with profiling, tracing, telemetry and benchmarking frameworks.
• Embed performance into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.
• Partner with platform, application, and data teams to incorporate performance early in design.
• Analyze complex performance issues using data-driven experiments and systems-level debugging.
• Lead and develop performance engineering teams with mentorship and collaboration.
