Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Scientist I to conceive, implement and execute novel peptide research and development. You will independently develop methods, optimize new approaches, and generate reliable data for both preclinical and clinical development spaces.

Collaboration with PCS, Process Chemistry, QA, and other R&D functions is essential. Experience with peptide development and chromatographic analysis (HPLC/GC) and Mass Spectrometry is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Chemistry (Analytical/Organic/Medicinal) or Pharmaceutical Sciences with industry experience.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and independently developing/troubleshooting analytical methods.
• Experience with HPLC analysis and method development; basic spectroscopic techniques for peptides and small molecules.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support new peptide product development from an analytical perspective with cross-functional collaboration.
• Provide advanced analytics to drive pipeline and research initiatives.
• Use a range of analytical techniques to study synthetic-molecule drug substances, impurities, and impurity profiling.
• Be highly autonomous in laboratory research and method development with minimal supervision.
• Initiate meaningful new areas of investigation to support research programs.
• Formulate conclusions and design follow-on experiments from multidisciplinary data.
• Process, interpret, and visualize data to inform project decisions.
• Demonstrate scientific initiative and maintain productivity in the lab.
• Develop and implement analytical control strategies for drug discovery candidates.
