Mistral AI in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Senior People Operations Manager to build and scale the operational HR infrastructure for North America and support international expansion. You will own end-to-end employee lifecycle operations, including payroll, benefits, global mobility, and visa tracking, while creating compliant HR frameworks in new countries.

Qualifications

• 8 to 15 years of progressive HR experience in a high-growth environment.
• Strong knowledge of US employment laws and international payroll/tax regulations.
• Experience deploying benefits and HR compliance structures in new international regions.
• Proficiency with modern HRIS systems, automated payroll platforms, and operational data tracking tools.
• Internal service mindset with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with ability to translate complex regulations into clear procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process payroll for North America employees, coordinating with local providers and Finance.
• Launch HR operations in new countries, establish compliant entities, and deploy benefits programs.
• Own onboarding and lifecycle documentation within the HRIS.
• Coordinate global mobility and immigration, including visa tracking for hires.
• Respond to daily employee inquiries on benefits enrollment and payroll changes.
• Audit and optimize HR workflows, pursue automation and vendor benchmarking.
• Maintain up-to-date compliance handbooks and monitor regulatory changes.
