Job summary

SET Active is seeking a Senior Manager, People Operations in Beverly Hills, CA to lead the People function as the company scales. You will partner with employees, managers, and leadership, overseeing HR operations, payroll, benefits, and talent strategy in a fast-growing environment.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, deeply knowledgeable in California employment law, employee relations, and HR systems, and will build scalable processes that ensure compliance and a high-performing workplace.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive HR experience.
• Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws.
• Experience managing employee relations, investigations, and compliance matters.
• Experience owning HR operations, payroll, benefits, and HR systems.
• Experience managing external recruiting partners.
• Strong business partnership and manager coaching skills.
• Excellent judgment, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own HR processes across the employee lifecycle including onboarding, leave administration, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.
• Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and handbook updates.
• Ensure compliance with federal and California employment laws and workplace requirements.
• Manage HR compliance, audits, filings, training, and safety requirements.
• Serve as the primary HR resource for employee and manager questions.
• Partner with legal counsel on complex employment matters as needed.
• Own and improve recruiting processes and manage external recruiting partners.
• Oversee payroll administration, timekeeping, PTO, and payroll reconciliation.
• Manage benefits administration including health, dental, vision, 401(k), COBRA, and FSA.
• Coach managers on performance, engagement, and policy application.
• Support culture initiatives and employee experience.
