Avalara is seeking a Senior People Analytics Data Scientist to architect advanced analytics and AI-powered solutions shaping the global workforce strategy. You will apply ML, causal inference, and AI-augmented listening to answer how people work, grow, and thrive at Avalara.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. You will lead AI-driven analytics for employee listening, modeling, and data integration across HR systems to deliver strategic insights and measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years applying advanced analytics methods to people or business decisions.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with R is a plus.
• Experience with employee listening platforms and NLP/text analytics.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy ML models, including NLP, sentiment analysis, and generative AI.
• Automate data pipelines to speed hypothesis testing and insight delivery.
• Lead AI-first analytics and embed capabilities into People workflows.
• Own analytics for employee listening programs across surveys and feedback channels.
• Build NLP models to mine open-ended responses and identify themes and attrition signals.
• Design architectures combining structured and unstructured data for a holistic view.
• Partner with People leaders to translate insights into interventions and measure impact.
