401(k) Administrators are responsible for all aspects of engagement management, including compliance testing, distribution and loan processing, and regulatory reporting. Responsible for client service, compliance, and Form 5500 reporting of an assigned group of retirement plans.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates good working knowledge of 401(k) basics and other rules specific to 401(k) Plans including loan limits, ADP/ACP testing, traditional and safe harbor designs, daily valuation basics. Demonstrates the ability to work with daily recordkeeping platforms.
- Demonstrates the ability to complete all aspects of annual plan administration including plan allocation, testing and compliance, and reporting. Demonstrates the ability to read plan documents and amendments and summarize core provisions.
- Completes Form 5500, Form 5500-SFs, and Form 5330.
Skills/Abilities
- Maintains a reasonable client caseload commensurate with experience level.
- Manages client relationships, manages projects and tasks, establishes and monitors the timeline for project completion. Ensures that services to be provided per each Client Engagement Agreement are provided in a timely and accurate manner, data gathering to report completion and billing. Responsibilities include the monitoring of due dates for client deliverables and regulatory reports.
- Complies with company policies and procedures, including documentation of technical discussions and completing plan administration checklists.
- Participates in in-house training sessions and CE offerings.
- Communicates effectively with each member of a project team; assists other employees when possible.
- Researches technical issues, and/or asks for assistance with research or resolution of technical matters.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years recent hands-on 401(k) administration experience.
- Very strong technical and analytical skills.
- Experience working “unbundled” with national daily recordkeeping platforms.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills and client service skills.
- Plan design, consulting, and plan document preparation experience are highly desirable.
- Experience with ASC, FT Williams, Relius, Datair, or Pension Pro software is required.
- Qualified Pension or 401(k) Administrator certification is a plus (QPA, QKA).
