Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking an HR professional to support the Retirement Programs group, focusing on administering defined benefit pensions and the 401(k) program.

The role partners with business units to attract and retain talent while ensuring compliance and accurate data processing. The position reports to the Manager, Executive Compensation & Retirement Programs and may be located at the Corporate Headquarters in Akron, or in PA facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required, with 4–7+ years of relevant HR experience preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and data analysis
• Experience with pension/retirement programs and SOX controls is advantageous
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and partner with business units

Responsibilities

• Support administration of defined benefit pension programs (qualified and non-qualified)
• Assist with 401(k) program administration
• Process pension payroll and validations; knowledge of Oracle is a plus
• Prepare data for retirements and projections; work with external providers
• Develop and deliver pension-related presentations to employees
• Support audits and regulatory compliance reviews
• Collaborate with internal/external auditors and business units on retirement programs
