Job summary

The City of Norfolk invites applications for a Peer Recovery Specialist III within the Norfolk Community Services Board. This role focuses on providing peer support to adults facing mental illness and/or substance use challenges, promoting recovery and connecting clients to housing, medical, and social services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience working with consumers with mental health and substance use challenges.
• Personal Recovery Plan in self-demonstrated recovery.

Responsibilities

• Role model recovery by maintaining personal recovery, consistent self-care, and utilizing coping skills.
• Conducts outreach to individuals in the city of Norfolk; discuss goals and needs and identify supports and resources.
• Assists individuals in building meaningful social ties within the community.
• Links to services, resources, and supports as identified (housing, entitlements, medical care, etc.).
• Advocates for the consumer to procure needed resources and services; supports independence.
