Job summary

Suffolk is seeking a dedicated Peer Recovery Specialist to lead community engagement and guide individuals toward recovery, housing, and support resources. The role leverages lived experience to build trust with hard-to-reach populations and coordinates outreach, referrals, and program data.

The PRS will support field-based peer-to-peer engagement, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and assist in setting up self-help groups and tracking progress across programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Personal, direct experience with a substance use disorder and at least two years of sustained recovery.
• Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist is preferred; ability to pursue certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with community members and provide authentic peer support based on shared life experiences.
• Assist individuals in identifying personal recovery goals through individual and group sessions.
• Support individuals in creating goals and recovery plans using strengths and resources.
• Teach recovery information and tools to help develop individualized wellness plans.
• Model stability and self-advocacy by sharing your recovery story appropriately.
• Assist individuals with job search activities, applications, and interview preparation.
