Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach II to join our team. We are looking for a certified Peer Recovery Specialist with the ability to relate to patients and health professionals, and to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies.

The Peer Recovery Coach II provides non-clinical services to aid patients in recovery from alcohol and drug use, assists with referrals and service plans, and supports linkage to treatment within the MedStar Health Facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Peer Recovery Specialist Certification by the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia.
• Related experience as a peer recovery coach.
• Must be actively engaged in own recovery for 3 years with sustained abstinence.
• Residency within the target population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as peer support during hospitalization and post-discharge; assists in linking to community and treatment services.
• Completes required documentation; conducts brief interventions for positive screens; consults with nursing and social work.
• Assesses readiness to change; uses motivational interviewing to support linkage to treatment plans.
