MedStar Health is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach II to support patients seeking recovery from alcohol or drug use. You will work with a care team to provide non-clinical services, assist with referrals, and develop service plans to promote linkage to treatment in a MedStar Health facility.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Certified Peer Recovery Specialist by the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia.
• Related experience as a peer recovery coach.
• Must be actively engaged in own recovery with a minimum of three years abstinence.
• Residency within the target population preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Provide peer support during hospitalization and after discharge, assist the clinical team, and help patients link to community services and treatment.
• Complete required documentation and reports, conduct brief interventions for patients who screen positive for alcohol/drug use, consult with nursing and social work.
• Identify patients' history of drug/alcohol use and readiness to change; use motivational interviewing to support a recovery plan.
• Model coping techniques and notify the nurse before visiting patients; participate in ongoing skills training.
• Assist with staff community events and activities as needed.

MedStar Health is looking for a Peer Recovery Coach II to join our team! We are looking for a certified Peer Recovery Specialist with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to relate to patients and health professionals, and to develop professional working relationships with partner agencies.

Job Summary

The Peer Recovery Coach II will provide non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery from high risk of dependent alcohol and drug use problems. Works with a team at a MedStar Health Facility that provides peer support and motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment for alcohol or drug dependency and addiction issues. Assists in completing referrals to treatment services and developing service plans to promote successful linkage to treatment services. Services will be provided in the MedStar Health Facility with appropriate follow-up.

Primary Duties

• Acts as peer support throughout the hospitalization and post-discharge, as appropriate to attain goals. Acts as a resource to other clinical team members on recovery support. Assist patients and family with understanding how to utilize these community services. Assists patients in linking to community support services and substance treatment services including securing appointments and transportation.
• Completes required documentation and other reports. Conducts brief interventions to patients that screen positive for alcohol and/or drug use. Consults with nursing staff, social work as requested, even if patient does not screen positive.
• Identifies patient's history of drug/alcohol use, treatment history, motivation to change behavior and other needs for community support services. Identifies patient's readiness to change and use motivational interviewing techniques and other communication skills to support a plan for reducing or eliminating harmful drug and/or alcohol use.
• Models coping techniques and self-help strategies. Notifies patient's nurse before visiting the patient. Participates in training to continually gain new skills.
• Staff's community events and activities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Peer Recovery Specialist Certification by the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia.
• Related experience as a peer recovery coach.
• Must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of three years demonstrated personal recovery and sustained abstinence from alcohol and/or drug use with no relapses.
• Residency within the target population preferred.

This position has a hiring range of

USD $22.48 - USD $39.75 /Hr.
