Job summary

UVA Health seeks a Senior Population Health Insight Specialist to lead cost and utilization analyses of pediatric claims and integrate this analysis with EHR data, geographic data, and other signals to guide value-based care interventions and care management activities.

The role develops and maintains cost/utilization dashboards, analyzes prescription and pharmacy data, and evaluates intervention effectiveness. Strong SQL and analytics tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in design, collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of pediatric population health information.
• Experience with cost and utilization analysis of claims data.
• Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) data types and large EHR databases.
• Deep understanding of risk adjustment, quality reporting (HEDIS, STAR, ACO measures), and healthcare reimbursement models.
• Demonstrated ability to use statistical modeling to support decision making to improve quality or costs.
• Ability to translate detailed and complex data into understandable conclusions and solutions.
• Organizational skills to manage a large volume of work and shifting priorities.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and SQL with Python/R/SAS.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with data engineering and IT teams to integrate and maintain population health data sources.
• Ensures data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across systems.
• Translates complex data into clear insights, dashboards, and visuals for executives.
• Conducts cost, utilization, quality, and outcomes analysis to support value-based contracts and reimbursement.
• Develops predictive and risk stratification models for care management workflows.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for population health analytics across teams.
• Supports design, evaluation, and optimization of programs for chronic disease management and health equity.
• Analyzes care management workflows for quality and process improvement.
• Mentors junior analysts and contributes to best practices and knowledge sharing.
