Job summary

Rivian is seeking an Electronics Assembly/ PCBA Prototype Technician in Southern California. You will perform hands-on assembly, testing, and circuit-level troubleshooting for high- and low-voltage power conversion systems, collaborating with design engineering to diagnose failures and rework to IPC Class 3 standards.

This role involves building wire harnesses, documenting build logs, and supporting transitions into manufacturing, with IPC-A-610/J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620C compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or an equivalent technical field.
• 3+ years of hands-on PCBA assembly, electronic testing, and electro-mechanical prototype environments.
• Soldering to IPC Class 3 standards (high-reliability).
• Proficiency with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620C cable/wire harness guidelines.
• ESD protected areas and protocols.
• Laboratory test gear: DMMs and DC power supplies.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
• Circuit board testing/diagnostic experience; board design is a plus.
• Strong communication across cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Google Workspace and JIRA.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot board failures and run functional tests with multimeters and power supplies.
• Support wire harness builds, inventory, documentation, and work instructions for production.
• Build and solder prototype power electronics and perform PCBA rework per engineering dispositions.
• Interpret schematics, drawings, and design specs; assist with test fixtures and manufacturing routing.
• Inspect circuit boards per IPC standards and fabricate harness assemblies per IPC/WHMA standards.
• Support factory production during NPI and production transitions; manage materials and kit parts.
