Job summary

Samtec in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking a senior PCB fabrication engineer to own how PCBs are built and to manage the technical relationship with external fabricators. You will oversee stackups, DFM, and qualification of new fabricators, collaborating with signal integrity engineers and PCB designers to ensure on-time, correct boards.

You will lead the vendor evaluation, prepare qualification data, forecast long-lead materials, and deliver a clear PCB status for programs.

Qualifications

• Experience in PCB fabrication, front-end/CAM engineering, or related field.
• Expert in PCB construction, process, impedance control.
• Strong stackup synthesis and material selection skills.
• Ability to read Gerber, ODB++, IPC-356 and drill data.
• Experience with supplier-facing technical work and qualification.
• Ability to manage multi-project schedules and reporting.
• Knowledge of IPC/UL/ISO standards for fabrication.
• BS degree in engineering; MS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical interface between SI engineers, PCB designers, and fabrication suppliers.
• Create and maintain vendor-agnostic stackups and impedance rationale.
• Evaluate design packages for manufacturability ahead of release.
• Resolve DFM findings and questions with design/SI teams.
• Review fabricator data and confirm design intent before build.
• Lead qualification of new fabrication suppliers and processes.
• Forecast material and manage supplier lead times in schedules.
• Define and report PCB process-health metrics.
• Guide designers on fabrication capabilities and design-for-manufacturability.
