Job summary

Relativity Space is building rockets like Terran R and advancing the space industry. We seek an experienced Materials & Process (M&P) engineer to lead PBF additive manufacturing for reusable launch vehicle parts.

You will guide material qualification, standards, and cross-functional collaboration to enable flight-ready components and rapid manufacturing iterations. You will own M&P for propulsion materials and drive process improvements in close partnership with design, manufacturing, and QA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science or engineering is required.
• 5+ years of relevant materials engineering experience.
• Experience with AM PBF hardware qualification and materials.
• Strong commitment to accountability, collaboration, and execution.

Responsibilities

• Be the M&P discipline expert for Powder Bed Fusion additive manufacturing of reusable launch vehicle products.
• Own reusable Liquid Propulsion Products and Materials Systems.
• Qualify PBF materials and products for flight + reuse.
• Drive system level requirements and workflows to qualify PBF materials + parts for damage tolerant design, inspection, flight, and reuse.
• Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards for our PBF materials.
• Drive PBF material process improvement campaigns in partnership with the PBF engineering team.
• Interface with PBF Engineering + Production, Materials engineering, Laboratory staff, Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality assurance, Propulsion Engineers, and company leadership.
