Job summary

Relativity Space is hiring for a Materials & Process engineer focused on reusable Terran-R materials and specs. You will qualify materials, develop standards, and drive experiments that improve performance, cost, and reuse across the vehicle.

You’ll collaborate with design, manufacturing, labs, and QA to deliver flight-ready materials and processes while advancing Terran-R goals in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in materials science or engineering, or related field.
• 1+ years of relevant materials engineering experience.
• Experience with general M&P activities, such as material selection, qualification, damage tolerance, inspections, risk assessments, and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Be the M&P owner of reusable Terran-R products, engineering disciplines, and materials.
• Qualify materials and products for flight + reuse.
• Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards.
• Drive statistically-driven experimental design and process improvement campaigns.
• Interface with Materials engineering staff to identify and fill critical gaps.
• Interface with Laboratory staff to characterize materials and processes.
• Interface with Design Engineers for product materials selection, and with Manufacturing Engineers to reduce cost and maintain performance.
• Collaborate with Quality assurance to validate specifications and compliance.
• Coordinate with Relativity Leadership to address risks and unblock progress.
