Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Tax Expert to lead complex payroll tax notices and amendments. This role focuses on defect resolution, not payroll processing, and includes mentoring junior staff and improving processes.

The position supports SelectTime services with flexible hours, offering remote, part-time engagement (20–40 hours weekly) and overtime eligibility where applicable.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with a focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing and approving amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and multi-state tax compliance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity in case resolution and knowledge transfer to the team.
• Coach and mentor team members; contribute to SOPs and KB articles.
