Job summary

The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage payroll tax, accounting and payroll processing for the organization, ensuring deadlines are met and internal controls are maintained. The role also involves supervising other members of the finance team.

Required are a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business, 5+ years of government fund accounting experience, payroll experience, and familiarity with MIP Abila Fund accounting software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business.
• 5+ years of experience in government fund accounting.
• Experience in payroll and payroll implementation.
• MIP Abila Fund accounting software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
• Prepare quarterly and annual federal and state payroll tax reports.
• Transmit 941, 940, 944 and 943 through MIP Abila accounting software.
• Calculate garnishment deductions and process for payment.
• Set up general ledger journal entries for payroll.
• Reconciling all payroll account.
• Monitor due dates, confirm amounts and generate electronic tax payments through EFTPS.
• Resolve IRS and Nebraska Department of Revenue notices.
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly Departmental Financial reports.
• Bi-Weekly prepare state withholding tax payment files for transmission.
• Payroll related employee inquiries.
• W-2 preparation and related year-end reports.
• Assist with additional financial projects as needed by CFO.
