Job summary

Skillwork is seeking an Accounting Operations Manager to supervise daily Payroll and Accounting functions and collaborate with the Controller on strategic projects. This role emphasizes process improvement, team development, and strong financial controls.

You will lead the Payroll and Accounting staff, ensure accurate financial reporting, assist with month-end close and compliance, and drive operational efficiency across the finance function in Omaha, Nebraska.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience including supervisory responsibilities.
• Advanced MS Office and accounting software/databases skills.
• High attention to detail with proficiency in processing and reporting large data sets.
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
• Ability to direct and lead through critical thinking and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Payroll and Accounting team to improve workflows and efficiencies.
• Assist Controller with internal audits, annual plan development, and other projects.
• Prepare monthly P&L, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, payroll, and 401(k) operations.
• Maintain strong financial processes, compliance and timely month-end close.
• Maintain regular in-office attendance to support collaboration across the organization.
