Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks a Payroll Supervisor to lead day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while complying with laws and collective agreements. You will train staff, monitor metrics, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced shipyard environment.

You should bring a Bachelor’s in accounting or related field with 6–8 years of automated payroll experience, preferably PeopleSoft, and strong timekeeping and tax knowledge. Onsite required in San Diego.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred or equivalent experience.
• 6–8 years with automated payroll systems and PeopleSoft HRMS/Payroll or equivalent.
• 2–3 years payroll accounting experience.
• CPP or payroll certification preferred and encouraged.
• Familiar with labor, timekeeping and HR systems, and payroll tax rules.
• Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of union agreements and benefits a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead all payroll activities, maintain records, file reports, and prepare tax documents.
• Advise staff on complex transactions and balancing in payroll accounting.
• Review payroll areas and prepare materials for audits and management.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain payroll metrics and documentation; assist with testing new practices.
