Job summary

The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across a multi-state workforce.

This role handles extensive manual calculations, audits, and compliance reporting while partnering with HR, Finance, and external vendors. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience including multi-state processing
• Experience with wage-hour laws and payroll tax administration
• High-volume payroll with substantial manual review and data entry
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly, weekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on schedule
• Perform extensive manual payroll processing, calculations, audits, reconciliations, and data validation
• Review earnings, deductions, taxes, and other payroll transactions for accuracy
• Validate hours, compensation data, and special pay items
• Process payroll corrections, retroactive pay adjustments, and manual checks as needed
• Conduct detailed payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and wage-hour requirements
• Coordinate payroll activities with HR, Finance, Operations, and vendors
• Support quarterly and annual payroll reporting including W-2 processing
• Research and resolve employee payroll questions and discrepancies
• Assist with payroll system testing, upgrades, implementations, and process improvements
• Generate payroll reports and analyses for leaders
• Train and support staff on payroll processes and policies
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency
• Perform other payroll, accounting, and administrative duties as assigned
