Job summary

The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations across a multi-state workforce. The role emphasizes manual processing, audits, and complex data, with collaboration across HR, Finance, and external vendors.

You will review earnings, deductions, hours, and tax data; maintain audit trails; support reporting and year-end activities; and pursue continuous process improvements in a high-volume payroll environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in accounting/related field.
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience including multi-state processing.
• Experience with manual payroll processing and audits.
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, taxes, and wage/hour laws.
• High accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly, weekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on schedule.
• Perform extensive manual payroll processing, calculations, audits, and data validation.
• Review earnings, deductions, taxes, and other payroll transactions for accuracy.
• Validate hours, compensation data, shifts, and special pay items.
• Coordinate payroll activities with HR, Finance, Operations, and vendors.
• Support payroll reporting, including year-end processes and W-2s.
