Job summary

Matura Farrington, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist in the San Francisco area for a hybrid role with weekly or bi-weekly in-office time.

You will oversee end-to-end payroll operations for employees and partner compensation across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalable processes. The role emphasizes collaboration with HR, Accounting, and firm leadership, and requires strong knowledge of California payroll rules, multi-state payroll, and payroll systems

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience required.
• California payroll regulations and multi-state payroll practices knowledge required.
• Law firm or professional services environment experience strongly preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll systems.
• Strong Excel and reporting skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process semi-monthly payroll for employees and partner compensation.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure timely, accurate payroll across multiple states.
• Monitor California wage and hour requirements and other regulatory updates.
• Support audits, reconciliations, tax reporting and payroll documentation.
• Manage benefit deductions and retirement contributions.
• Maintain payroll workflows in ADP Workforce Now and look for process improvements.
• Generate recurring and ad hoc payroll reports for leadership and finance teams.
• Serve as primary contact for payroll questions and issue resolution.
• Assist with onboarding related to payroll and timekeeping procedures.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance on payroll strategy and confidentiality of compensation data.
