Position: Senior Payroll Specialist

Location: Remote (Ohio)

Pay: $30 to $35/hour

Experience: At least 7 years in multi-state payroll operations and compliance.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.

Job Description:

• Independently manage multi-state payroll processing and compliance.
• Handle payroll activities including tax setup, HRIS configuration, and reporting.
• Support system conversions and time/attendance system implementations.
• Coordinate 401(k) and HSA submissions and benefit deduction audits.
• Process manual payments and ensure federal, state, and local compliance.
• Audit timesheets, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate employee records.
• Identify and recommend process improvements across payroll/benefits.
• Collaborate with HR and finance teams for seamless operations.
• Assist in general HR functions (onboarding, offboarding, benefits admin) as needed.
• Complete monthly/quarterly audits and manage vendor communications.

Position Requirements:

• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Payroll tax compliance, audit preparation, HRIS proficiency.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.
