Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF) seeks a Payroll Manager to oversee the biweekly payroll process from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely pay with full compliance to all tax and labor laws.

The role supports the Finance Department at HJF Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD, supervising payroll staff, handling garnishments and retroactive wage adjustments, and maintaining data integrity across ERP/HRIS systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
• 9–10 years experience in payroll processing and management.

Responsibilities

• Manage full payroll cycle including gross-to-net calculations, direct deposits, bonuses and off-cycle payments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax and labor laws; prepare W-2s and 1099s.
• Audits and controls: perform periodic payroll audits and maintain SOPs; support internal/external audits.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to synchronize employee data, benefits deductions and GL entries.
• Administer and maintain payroll systems; implement upgrades and enhancements.
• Lead and train staff; back up Sr. Payroll Manager as needed.
