RWM & Company seeks a Payroll Manager to lead a payroll team within our growing CPA firm. You will manage multi‑state payroll, ensure tax compliance, and mentor staff to deliver exceptional client service.

You will oversee processing, year‑end tasks, and tax filings while collaborating with tax and accounting teams to improve controls and efficiency. This hands‑on role requires a sharp, detail‑oriented leader who values teamwork and client service.

Qualifikationen

• 5–8+ years of payroll experience, preferably within a CPA firm or multi‑client environment.
• 2+ years of experience supervising or leading a team.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance (federal, multi‑state, and local).
• Experience processing high‑volume and/or multi‑state payroll.
• Proficiency in ADP payroll software platform and other accounting softwares.
• Strong understanding of wage and hour laws.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Aufgaben

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payroll specialists.
• Oversee multi‑state payroll processing for a portfolio of clients across various industries.
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and tax withholdings.
• Review and approve payroll tax filings (941, 940, state withholding, unemployment, local taxes, etc.).
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
• Support year‑end processes including W‑2s, 1099s, and reconciliations.
• Serve as primary escalation point for payroll‑related client questions.
• Build trusted relationships with clients through responsive and proactive communication.
• Collaborate with tax and accounting teams to ensure seamless client service.
• Oversee payroll software administration and system optimization.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
• Maintain documentation of payroll procedures and best practices.
• Ensure data security and confidentiality standards are upheld.
