Job summary

Current is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead payroll and retirement-plan execution for a portfolio of client businesses within Client Accounting Services. This hands-on supervisory role manages delivery, staff development, external provider coordination, and payroll processing when needed.

The Tax team sets wage instructions, plan design, and contribution strategy, while this role implements and escalates changes as required.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years in US tax or tax-side payroll for closely held businesses
• Hands-on retirement-plan experience (contributions, funding, testing, filings)
• End-to-end payroll platform proficiency and knowledge of multi-state filings

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll calendars and ensure delivery against quality standards
• Oversee payroll setup, changes, reports, and tax instructions
• Coordinate filings, registrations, notices, and reconciliations across states
• Serve as day-to-day client contact and explain payroll and plan matters
• Coach staff, review workpapers, and manage competing deadlines
