Job summary

College of the Redwoods is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead district-wide payroll planning, development and administration, ensuring accurate deductions, taxes and reporting while aligning with labor agreements and policy.

The role oversees payroll staff, drives automation, coordinates with IT to resolve system issues, and ensures timely W-2 processing, tax filings and compliance across the district.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and four years of payroll experience required.
• Experience with payroll laws, STRS/PERS and tax reporting preferred.
• Ability to supervise and develop payroll staff and processes.

Responsibilities

• Directs all payroll processes and compliance with labor agreements, laws and district policy.
• Oversees monthly payrolls, retiree benefit payroll and retroactive pay adjustments; approves transmissions.
• Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates payroll staff; provides guidance as needed.
• Monitors payroll liability accounts including taxes, benefits and records for accuracy.
• Coordinates with IT to resolve system issues and implement payroll/payroll reporting improvements.
• Develops and revises payroll policies; ensures timely W-2 processing and year-end reporting.
