Job summary

Willdan Group, Inc. seeks an experienced Payroll Manager to lead the payroll function across a multi-state organization with multiple FEINs. You will oversee end-to-end payroll processing, compliance, controls, and system integrations with ADP, Deltek Costpoint, and other platforms.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Accounting, HR, IT, and Operations to ensure efficient, accurate payroll and strong internal controls. Public company experience and CPP designation are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state operations.
• 3+ years in payroll leadership or management roles preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state/local payroll, tax, and wage-and-hour requirements.
• Experience with ADP payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now favored).
• Public company, SOX, and internal control experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple states and entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage payroll compliance, tax withholdings, and reporting (Forms 941, W-2/W-2C).
• Lead controls, calendars, workflows, and back-up coverage for payroll operations.
• Collaborate with Accounting, HR, IT, and Operations to optimize payroll processes.
• Support audits with reconciliations, reports, and control documentation.
• Lead payroll integration for acquisitions and new entities.
