Job summary

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead a high-volume operation in Los Angeles. You will manage a team of payroll professionals responsible for semi-monthly processing for 7,000+ employees and partner with HR, Accounting, and external vendors.

The role requires strong California payroll knowledge, leadership experience, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including management.
• Experience with large-volume payrolls (5,000+).
• Strong knowledge of California payroll, wage-and-hour laws, taxes, and compliance.
• Experience with semi-monthly payroll processing.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
• Experience with ADP payroll platforms.
• CPP/CPM or other payroll certification is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of seven payroll professionals, establishing priorities and accountability.
• Oversee semi-monthly payroll for 7,000+ employees and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Manage payroll processing including earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, and third-party payments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, especially CA wage-and-hour laws.
• Oversee timekeeping systems and ensure accurate hours and compensation.
• Coordinate payroll changes for new hires, terminations, and organizational changes.
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting on reconciliations and reporting.
• Coordinate with payroll providers, tax agencies, auditors, and external partners.
• Support payroll audits and provide documentation.
• Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Prepare payroll reports and metrics for management.
