Job summary

THE-TEAM is a global representation and marketing service provider, seeking a Payroll Lead, NA, to oversee day-to-day U.S. and Canadian payroll operations. You will guide two Payroll Specialists, partner with Payroll Manager and Workday Analyst, and ensure accurate, on-time processing with strong controls.

The role requires 3+ years of experience in complex U.S. payroll, multi-state compliance, and excellent analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive payroll experience, including complex U.S. payroll.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage/hour rules, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and quarter/year-end processing.
• Excellent analytical and reconciliation abilities with attention to detail.
• Strong Excel with payroll data analysis and handling large data sets.
• Clear written and verbal communication across Payroll, HR, Finance, and external vendors.
• Workday Payroll experience preferred; Canadian payroll across provinces is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll operations for the U.S. and Canada.
• Coach two Payroll Specialists and ensure cross-training and coverage.
• Perform audits and reconciliations; verify gross-to-net results.
• Escalate complex payroll issues including retroactive pay and cross-border questions.
• Coordinate quarter-end and year-end tax balancing and forms.
• Maintain payroll controls, processes and operating procedures for compliance.
• Partner with Workday Analyst on system changes, testing, integrations and releases.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits and vendors to resolve payroll matters.
• Identify recurring issues and standardize payroll operations while maintaining controls.
• Provide operational coverage during absences to ensure continuity.
