Job summary

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a Payroll Specialist III to lead end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state, multi-entity environment in Leander, TX. The role requires technical expertise, governance, and timely, compliant payroll delivery.

You will manage biweekly and off-cycle payrolls, ensure accurate inputs, and drive year-end activities like W-2s, with close collaboration with HR and Finance. In-office role, 8am-5pm, five days weekly.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of progressive payroll experience in multi-state environments.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now or Workday required.
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance standards.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly, multi-cycle, and off-cycle payrolls across multiple states and entities.
• Review and validate inputs including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and adjustments.
• Lead year-end payroll tasks including W-2 preparation, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Own and maintain the payroll calendar and processing governance framework.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
• Lead year-end payroll strategy including W-2 preparation, reconciliation, and reporting.
• Perform payroll general ledger reconciliations and coordinate funding requirements with Finance.
• Analyze payroll variances and resolve discrepancies with documented root cause analysis.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll system configuration.
• Partner with HR and other departments to ensure accurate employee data and deduction processing.
