Job summary

Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Lead Payroll Integration Manager to own payroll setup and integration for Nonqualified Retirement Solutions, guiding client and payroll provider conversations and ensuring accurate, secure data integration.

You will coordinate with onboarding, administration, consultants, technology, and the WSRS Payroll Integration Team to support new implementations, conversions, and migrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 4+ years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of business processes, financial services products, and supporting systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and drive results in fast-paced environments.
• Strong attention to detail with understanding of cross-functional impacts.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the primary owner for NQ payroll setup and integration efforts for clients, payroll providers, consultants, and internal partners.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll implementation activities: file specs, configuration, testing, validation, issue resolution, and production readiness.
• Provide SME guidance on payroll setup, file requirements, provider capabilities, migration strategies, and downstream impacts.
• Collaborate with onboarding, administration, consulting, technology, operations, and Payroll Integration teams to align standards and scale solutions.
• Lead and support FTP-to-IPP migration efforts to automate integrations and reduce manual work.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, controls, and client/participant experience.
• Develop and maintain procedures, training resources, and quality standards for payroll setup and integration.
