This mostly remote role requires you to stay within 50 miles of a Baker Tilly office in Texas (Dallas/Frisco), Wisconsin (Madison, Milwaukee, Appleton, Janesville, Eau Claire) or Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Clarks Summit, Lancaster, Allentown, Pittston, State College, Williamsport, New Castle).

Qualifications

• 3 years payroll experience in a consulting firm, payroll provider, or in-house payroll function
• Bachelor's degree preferred; experience can be considered in lieu of degree
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, compliance requirements, and multistate regulations
• Experience with payroll tax forms and filings
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools

Responsibilities

• Support payroll consulting engagements across a range of clients, industries, and geographies
• Assist in assessing and improving client payroll processes, controls, and procedures
• Perform multistate payroll compliance reviews, including federal, state, and local regulations
• Support payroll tax activities, including preparation and review of forms (e.g., 941, 941-X, W-2C)
• Assist with payroll setup and configuration, including earnings, deductions, and tax treatments
• Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies, risks, and opportunities for improvement
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality work
