Job summary

Midwest Drywall Co., Inc. in Wichita, KS, seeks a Senior Payroll & Compliance Specialist to oversee accurate, timely payroll for both union and non-union staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and support audits.

You will partner with Finance, HR, operations, unions, and customers to maintain records, resolve issues, and minimize risk. The role emphasizes payroll tax reporting, union reporting, and certified payroll, with opportunities for process improvements and cross-training within a growing

Qualifications

• Minimum of three to five years of payroll, payroll compliance, accounting, HR, or related administrative experience.
• Working knowledge of payroll processing, payroll records, payroll reporting, reconciliations, confidentiality requirements, and deadline-driven compliance work.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications, including data review, reconciliation, and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with employees, managers, unions, customers, vendors, and auditors.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll and compliance information appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Backup weekly/bi-weekly payroll processing to support business continuity.
• Review payroll data for accuracy before processing, including hours, rates, deductions, job coding, and status changes.
• Assist with payroll adjustments, off-cycle items, final pay calculations, and termination-related items.
• Respond to payroll questions, research issues, and resolve with confidentiality.
• Maintain payroll records, audit files, and recurring checklists per retention rules.
• Cross-train with team members to ensure coverage during vacations and deadlines.
• Prepare and submit weekly union payroll reporting and monthly union reporting, remittances, and documentation.
• Assist with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and project-specific reporting.
• Coordinate OCIP/CCIP enrollments and monthly reporting.
• Maintain compliance documents for contracts, unions, audits, and customer requests.
• Research discrepancies and elevate risks promptly.
